We recently got the opportunity to review the RC Ladybug Scooper from Orbeez. Gwenny LOVES this thing. She (the Ladybug) runs around via remote control and picks up Orbeez off the floor. Wait. Back up. What are Orbeez? They’re squishy little balls that come “dry” and are about the size of an extra large poppy seed. When you add them to water, they grow overnight to about the size of an M&M only totally round. They bounce, roll, & squish. While they’re fun by themselves, add the RC Ladybug Scooper & it’s a whole lot more awesome! She lights up, blinks, chirps and “eats” all those little balls.

The Ladybug was simple to put together, only requiring that you snap the wings in and Gwen did that herself. We had to add batteries, of course. It takes one 9volt battery for the control and 4 AA’s for the bug. She’s basically ready to go right out of the box. As for the Orbeez, like I said, you do have to let them grow overnight but you can still run her around without them. She came with over 2000 Orbeez in 8 different colors. Of course, we didn’t grow them all at once! I let them choose some of each color.

Tristan wasn’t impressed at first. He said “Can I just have some Orbeez? I’m not playing with the ladybug”. But, by the end, they were both arguing over whose turn it was. Yep. We have that with everything. Don’t you? They even turned it into a game by putting the Orbeez on the floor & taking turns seeing who could steer the bug & clean up the Orbeez best! Their favorite part, though is how when you push one of the buttons on the remote, it “poops” them back out so you can clean them up all over again. The remote is simple to use, with only a right/left joystick, a forward/backward joystick and a “poop” button. There is a on/off switch on both the remote and the ladybug.

The Orbeez RC Ladybug Scooper’s back pops off easily so you can clean the errant dog hair (or what have you) out. It snaps back on just as easily. My ONLY complaint with her is that the Orbeez don’t last very long–only a few days before they get slimy and while that really doesn’t affect the ladybug, I thought it was worth mentioning. But with over 2000 Orbeez, you won’t run out anytime soon!

The Orbeez RC Ladybug Scooper is a huge hit in my house, I’m sure it would be in yours, also. I highly recommend putting it on your Gift List this holiday season.
