Robert Gray is a writer. If that job description doesn’t impress you, how about fantasy writer? Too general? Well, he doesn’t get insulted if you call him a horror writer. Healing in the Hurting Places Book Review and Giveaway
People deal with pain in different ways. For Karen F. Riley, coming to know God and increase her faith was her way. She wrote Healing in the Hurting Places to help others who were sexually abused come to terms and deal with their own pain. In Healing in the Hurting Places, Karen reveals her own addictions to food, her struggles with suicidal thoughts, and the guilt of unleashing her anger on the people she loved. With the help of God, she was able to move from victim to survivor. In the back of the book, Riley gives us some guidelines for dealing with someone who has been abused.
One of the biggest mistakes people make is to blame the victim. It seems as if people are under the impression that the victim did something to deserve what happened, which couldn’t be further from the truth. She also gives us some important things to think about and look for in the case we should even THINK someone is being or has been abused.
Though hard for me to get through at times, Healing in the Hurting Places was well written. I’m glad that Karen F. Riley found her reason for dealing and shared her story with others.
