Great Backyard Pool Options For Small Spaces
Having a backyard pool installed can provide many benefits to your family. You can better relax in your home environment and spend valuable time together as a family. You can also enjoy more exercise and live a healthier life. Entertainment options expand when you have the option of allowing people to visit. However, not everyone has a large backyard that can easily fit a swimming pool. Fortunately, several swimming pool options are available from which to choose that can provide all of the benefits of having a personal swimming pool while still accounting for limited space.
Plunge Pools
Plunge pools are small, shallow pools that are ideal for smaller spaces. They are similar to hot tubs in stature. People can use them to lounge, wade and cool off. However, they do not provide as much opportunity for exercise. Because of their small size, they offer several cost advantages, including decreased maintenance requirements and the need for less water. This pool option provides a cost-effect and space-effective option. More landscaping options are available, including adding fountains to the space.
Stand-Alone Pools
Another option for a smaller space is to use a stand-alone pool. These pools are available in large boxes at large national chains. They are affordable and clearly indicate the dimensions of the pool so that homeowners can choose the size that best fits their needs. This pool is also easy to maintain because it can be uninstalled after swimming season is over and stored until it is ready to be used again, so there is no need to pay a pool person to maintain the pool when it is not in use.
Vanishing Edge
A vanishing edge pool is a type of pool that takes up less space because one of the edges seems to cascade into a nearby slope. Unlike traditional styles of pools, a vanishing edge pool does not have a patio around all four sides of the pool. However, a vanishing edge pool only has two or three of its sides at ground level with patio access around them. This type of pool is best to use by a steep drop-off area to give the illusion that a pool is naturally flowing into the nature around it. This design also helps homeowners to enjoy the views around the pool.
Straight Line Pools
Many pool manufacturers can create pools to different dimensions, including pools that are smaller than an average pool. While many people may want a pool design that has an artistic appearance to it, using rounded edges in circular, oval or kidney-shaped pools can actually take up more space. Instead, by asking a pool designer to create a pool that features a square or rectangular design, the homeowner is more likely to get a pool that is best designed for a small space.
Lap Pools
Lap pools are pools that are designed for people to do laps in them. They are typically more narrow and smaller than traditional-sized pools. However, lap pools provide just as much opportunity for exercise than other types of pools.
Endless Pools
An Endless Pool is a special type of swimming pool that maximizes space while trying to maintain the utility of a home swimming pool. The pool has technology that allows a person to swim in place while a stream of water comes toward the person, giving the illusion of being in a larger space. This allows people to install a pool in their backyard that are only slightly bigger than the width and length of an average person. These pools offer several benefits over other types of pools, including the lack of a need to excavate the land, making this pool option less expensive to install. Another benefit of this type of pool is that it has side walls that help prevent debris from coming into the pool, making the upkeep to clean the pool less significant.
Swimming pools do not have to be only for individuals who can invest large portions of money for them or for homeowners who have a large outdoor space. Several options are available for homeowners who have limited space but who desire to acquire a new pool for their outdoor escape.

Sanity Saving Tips for Traveling with Kids – Guest Post
Traveling with kids can be very daunting, and downright miserable. That’s why being prepared for anything and everything can make or break your traveling experiences. Before you head out the door with your kids in tow, check out these sanity-saving tips for traveling with kids.
Stock up on the comforts of life
Well, at least the comforts of the kids’ lives. If you’ve never really paid attention to how quickly a snack can quiet down your children, wait till you’re in your car. Snacks have an unexplained magical quality that almost instantaneously brings calm and comfort to a child. Be sure to keep some non-sugary snacks and drinks on hand while you travel with kids; just in case.
Dig out those crayons and coloring books
What child doesn’t like to color? Keep some crayon in a small plastic container with a lid in the car along with some coloring books or pads. When boredom comes knocking, hand out the coloring books and crayons. Then enjoy the calmness that sweeps over the car.
Be prepared for emergencies
While the odds are good that you’ll probably never have any real problems (Aside from staying sane, that is!) while traveling with kids, if something should happen along the way, it helps to be prepared. Make sure you’ve got a well-stocked first aid kit on hand as well as some road flares, and a spare tire. The quicker you fix the problem, the quicker you may be able to avert a melt-down by the kids.
Check your ride
Avoiding car trouble completely would be the ultimate way to avoid breaking down while traveling with kids. Give your car a good once-over by checking the pressure in all your tires (Don’t forget the spare!), checking all the fluids (Oil, window washing solution, brake fluid, etcetera) and ensuring that all lights are working correctly, including back-up lights, turn signals, brake lights and yes, even headlights.
Up-date your insurance policy
It would also be a good idea to take a look at the insurance coverage you’ve got on your vehicle. Many people simply pay their renewal premiums, file the latest edition of their policy, and never give auto insurance a second thought. Before you head out on the road with the kids, set a few minutes aside to review your auto insurance policy to be sure everything is up-to-date and that you’ve got enough coverage. An annual policy and coverage review is always a good idea, both for your safety and your budget.
